Mat-forming plant. Leaves are quite small (2.5cm long) and green in colour. Flowers are roughly 2.5cm across, reddish or orange in colour with thin petals that open in the sun. Flowering occurs in summer. Portulaca grandiflora grows to about 15cm across and about 50cm high.
