Eucalypts are usually large trees with leathery, smooth, lance-shaped leaves, which have a more rounded shape when young. Their flowers may be red or orange. No petals present. The colourful bark of the stems and trunks may be gray, green, russet, or cream and peels in sheets. Eucalyptus lansdowneana is a small tree (5m) with a spreading crown, persistant rough bark on trunk, sometime a mallee, usually purple flowers.
